State Patrol Pension Plan

The 1947 Legislature created the State Patrol Retirement Plan.
- State Patrol employees can retire at age 50 with at least 25 years of service or with 10 or more years on a reduced basis.
- The normal retirement age is 55.
- The passage of LB324 in 2007 sets contribution rates at 13% for employees and 15% for the employer.
- Besides normal benefits, the law provides disability and survivor benefits.
- A "DROP" feature was added September 1, 2008.
- Members are not covered by Social Security.
- As a defined benefit plan, lifetime monthly retirement benefits are based on this formula:
