  The 1947 Legislature created the State Patrol Retirement Plan.
  • State Patrol employees can retire at age 50 with at least 25 years of service or with 10 or more years on a reduced basis.
  • The normal retirement age is 55.
  • The passage of LB324 in 2007 sets contribution rates at 13% for employees and 15% for the employer.
  • Besides normal benefits, the law provides disability and survivor benefits.
  • A "DROP" feature was added September 1, 2008.
  • Members are not covered by Social Security.
  • As a defined benefit plan, lifetime monthly retirement benefits are based on this formula:
 
Average 3 highest 12-month periods of compensation X Creditable Service Years X Formula Factor(currently 3.0%)
